Here it is. Augmented Reality. On the left is before and on the right is what you see when you use the Layar app where you click on the buttons on the phone. Pretty neat, huh?
The following files contain screenshots of my tourism app 'All About Selangor'. The five buttons I designed is Attractions, Accomodations, Activities, Food & Shopping Places.
1. Cognition: The act of wanting to know something. 2. Diversion: There are three forms of diversions a) Stimulation (Seeking relief from boredom) b) Relaxtion (Escape from stressful situations) c) Emotional Release (Release pent-up emotions) 3. Social Utility: To get to know the latest trends that friends and family are talking about to start up a conversation with them. 4. Affiliation: To desire a sense of belonging within a social group 5. Expression: A person's need to express their thoughts, feelings and opinions 6. Withdrawal: To create a barrier between themselves and other people/activities. When I read these categories of why people consume media, I thought to myself: Do these categories change despite media getting more and more evolved as time progresses? To me, no matter how much media changes, it does not change the way people consume media.

Here is a short description about what the video is all about. So, Josh is a magician. Here, he takes out a piece of paper that is shaped like a man. After he throws it, the paper man magically turned into a real human (Played by Billy). The 'paper man'. checks himself out, surprised that he turned into a human. For some reason though, the 'paper man' is angry at the magician and starts to beat him up to the point that the magician himself turns into paper. The 'paper man' picks up the 'papered' magician and shows off what he did. The music is an '8-bit' edition of WWE superstar, Sami Zayn's theme 'Worlds Apart', composed by Youtube user, Adam Haacke. Here is the how the real thing sounds like: Now, what can Facebook teach us about the future of democratic citizenship? For the sake of convenience, let's shorten 'democratic citizenship' to DC. Firstly, let's take a look at the definition of DC. Vallely (n.d.) says that DC is "membership in a political democracy". Vallely also states that DC doesn't necessarily stops at only at a national level. DC can be applied in a city, state or an organization. Starkey (2002) further explains this concept by quoting what the Council of Europe (CoE) says about this. They say that DC is:
"About greater participation, social cohesion, access, equity and solidarity. Democratic citizenship is about inclusion rather than exclusion, participation rather than marginalisation, culture and values rather than simple procedural issues (such as voting) and is about being active in shaping understandings and practices of citizenship." Now that is explained, let's get back to the main point. What Facebook can teach us about the future of DC is that technology and social media can be used to shape our minds about a topic that matters to the community we live in. Since Facebook can be used as a means to share articles, we are capable to be influenced by people who shares the same views as the article they shared. However, there may be a time that two of your friends share different opinions on a topic. This is when you should read both sides of the story and share your thoughts to your friends who were disagree with each other and who knows, you may also influence other people too. Since Facebook is one of the main channels for communication, knowledge other people's culture can easily be spread throughout the entire world. They are able to understand what other people who is of different religion, race and culture always go through in their daily lives. This is important as it matches to what the Council of Europe stressed about DC. The final point is that since more and more people uses social media, there will be more people that will be conscious about the issues of the whole world. I stated earlier that Facebook can be used to shape people's minds. What the people might think about those issues depends entirely on them and how they feel about it.
